Nicki Minaj has announced a new long-term deal with Sears Holdings, that will bring her own fashion line to Kmart and the company’s affiliate website ShopYourWay.com.
Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and Nicki Minaj will team with Kmart and ShopYourWay.com to launch new clothing lines.
The rapper will launch a multi-department lifestyle brand, as well as an apparel and accessories collection, which will be available exclusively at Kmart and its website.
“I am so excited to work with this iconic, mass retailer and to bring affordable fashion to my beautiful barbz all across the U.S.,” Nicki Minaj said in a statement.
Sears Holdings is hoping that the affiliation with Adam Levine and Nicki Minaj will also drive traffic to their shopping destination, ShopYourWay.com, which is a free membership-based that offers deals, rewards and sweepstakes.
Under the terms of the agreement, both Adam Levine and Nicki Minaj will promote ShopYourWay.com to their tens of millions of combined fans and followers on social media networks.
“We are thrilled to align Kmart and Shop Your Way with two of America’s superstars,” said Imran Kooma, executive vice president and president of Marketing & Online at Sears Holdings. “We welcome Adam and Nicki Minaj into our world and look forward to capturing their energy and creativity on ShopYourWay.com and translating it into unique apparel, accessories and other merchandise.”
Both branded fashion lines from Adam Levine and Nicki Minaj are slated to be in select Kmart’s before the end of 2013.

Nicki Minaj also consulted those close to her. “I had a lot of talks with people — my family, my best friends, my label, Lil Wayne, management and then the producers,” she says. In the end, it was Darnell who helped sway her. Adds Nicki Minaj: “He was so lovable and made me feel so comfortable and confident. He kept saying, ‘I promise we’re going to protect you; you’re going to love it, we’re a big family.’ “
Among Nicki Minaj‘s concerns: her cred in the rap world, for one. As an artist signed to Cash Money Records — home to her mentor Lil Wayne, Drake, Jay Sean and DJ Khaled and a label that has sold more than 78 million albums since its founding in 1991 — she points to “a judgmental culture in hip-hop,” where “sometimes you are afraid of being too famous because it’s almost, like, is that even cool? Being that accessible, someone you see on TV every week? I never pictured myself as that type of person. I’m still surprised that I decided to do it.”
